Estate Hoge Kamp, Bunnik
A glass house
for
long
tables
140 seated, 220 standing

Built for a tomato grower who loved a party. Now it seats a hundred and forty for dinner, with the doors open to the orchard and the vines still on the roof.
One event a day, never two. You get the house, the orchard and the potting shed from noon until half past midnight, and a host who has done this four hundred times.
Six spaces, one estate
Walk round the house
Drag the page, the house keeps turning
A wedding day, noon to midnight
The glass does most of the decorating. This is how the light moves through a summer Saturday, and what usually happens under it.
12:00
The house is yours
Florists and band arrive. Lunch for the couple in the potting shed.
14:30
Ceremony in the orchard
Benches under the pear trees, or the orangery if it rains.
16:00
Drinks under the vines
Elderflower from the estate, oysters, a lawn for the kids.
18:30
Dinner at the long table
One table for everyone. Four courses from the kitchen garden.
21:30
The glass goes gold
Sunset through the west wall. Speeches stop here, we promise.
00:30
Last song, lanterns out
Taxis wait at the gate. Your flowers stay until Sunday noon.
Through the year
Spring
Sunset 20:40
Blossom in the orchard, asparagus on the table, a heater for the evening.
Summer
Sunset 22:05
Every door open, dinner in daylight, dancing when it finally gets dark.
Autumn
Sunset 18:50
Pears, game, candles from six. Our favourite, if we are honest.
Winter
Sunset 16:35
Five hundred candles, a fire in the shed and snow on the glass if you are lucky.
